APPOINTMENTS TO FRENCH SCHOOLS

NEW ZEALANDERS MAY BE OFFERED POSITIONS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 5. The French Department of Education has under consideration the appointment of three New Zealanders to assistant positions in French secondary or higher primary schools, said the French Minister to New Zealand (Mr Emmanuel Lancial) last evening. Persons appointed to these positions would be engaged for up to 12 hours a week in giving lessons in fluent conversational English, he said. The salary would be 15.000 francs, about £l5 a month. The assistants would be accommodated in the school to which they were appointed, deduction of salary being made for the cost of board The period of appointment would be from October 1 to July 31. Fares to and from New Zealand are not provided.
