BRITISH TEAM TO PLAY IRELAND BOTTING RETAINS PLACE (N.Z.P.A. —Reuter— Copyright) LONDON. January 30. The New Zealander, lan Botting. retains his place in the England Rugby team and will play against Ireland at Twickenham on February 11.

The selectors have made six changes. They have caused a surprise by dropping the South African, M. B. Hofmeyr. and replacing him oy R. Uren, of Waterloo, at full-back. J. H. Steeds replaces E. Evans as hooker. J. R. D. Matthews comes in for G. R. D. Hosking in the second row, and S. J. Adkins, a new cap. and V. G. Roberts are preferred to D. B. Vaughan and J. J. Cain in the back row. W. K. T. Moore comes in for G. Rimmer at scrum half.

The dropping of Hosking has caused almost as much surprise as the replacement of Hofmeyr, for Hosking is regarded as one of the best leaders of the pack that England has ever had.
