OBITUARY

MR T. B. STRONG (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 31. The death has occurred of Mr T. B. Strong, aged 79. a former director of education in New Zealand. Born in London. Mr Strong came to New Zealand as a child and was educated at the Waimate District High School and the University of Otago. After 15 years’ teaching in South Canterbury, Gisborne and Wanganui, he was appointed in 1904 an inspector of schools under the Wanganui Education Board. «

In 1915 Mr Strong became senior inspector of the Wanganui district, and in 1920 was chief inspector of primary schools for New Zealand. In 1926 he was appointed assistantdirector of education, and a year later became director. He retired in 1933.
