OBITUARY

MR GORDON PEEK The death occurred recently of Mr Gordon Peek, inspector of dangerous goods for the Christchurch City Council, at his home at 6 Linwood avenue. Mr Peek, who was aged 58, had beqn employed by the City Council for 26 years. He was for more than 40 years a member of the St. John Ambulance Association, in which he held the rank of captain. He served in the Medical Corps in both world wars, and won the Efficiency Decoration. Mr Peek went overseas with the Ist Echelon in the recent war. and did not return until 1946. He held the rank of major, as officer commanding medical supnlies for the New Zealand Division in the Middle East, and in 1941 was mentioned in dispatches. He was a keen follower of Rugby football. Mr Peek is survived by his widow.
