STRIKE LEADER DISCIPLINED

SEQUEL TO BRITISH DOCK DISPUTE

(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 25. A leader of the unofficial dock strike in Bristol last May had been x'emoved from office for two years, said the general secretary of the Transport and General Workers’ Union (Mr Arthur Deakin) yesterday. The union’s disciplinary committee had suspended Mr F. Hoyle, a member of the unofficial strike committee, and had warned other leaders that they must conform to union rules in future, said Mr Deakin. About 2000 Bristol dockers stopped work for a month in sympathy with the Canadian seamen’s strike. The stoppage later spread to London, and affected more than 15,000 men and 150 ships. *
