FLOODS IN CYPRUS
AT LEAST 20 DEATHS (Rec. 12.30 a.m.) NICOSIA, Dec. 22. Floods caused by five days of torrential rain have caused the loss of at least 20 lives and much damage to bridges, and roads throughout Cyprus. A lorry a few miles outside Nicosia was engulfed in a torrent sweeping across the road, and of 20 passengers only one escaped.
