“ LACK OF ENTERPRISE AND ENERGY” VIEWS OF MR G. E. STOCK “The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. December 22. Frustration was the spirit all over Britain at present, said Mr George E. Stock, managing-director of George E. Stock (N.Z.), Ltd., motor representatives and importers, of Wellington, who arrived in Auckland by air today after a long inspection of British industry. Mr Stock said there was a lack of enterprise and energy in the country and leadership of a vital kind in thp Government Was felt to be the greatest need. The workers found no incentive to work, mainly because taxation was so high. The general feeling was that there would be greater production if there were less taxation. Except for a shortage of meat there was more food now and factory workers had an advantage over white-collar workers in that they were provided with hot midday meals. Mr Stock continued. It was amazing to see the speed with which the Continent was recovering, compared with three years ago. Even in France the numerous political changes had failed to hinder recovery and many European cities, notably in Switzerland and Italy, were full of goods which had not been seen for many years, he said
