THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH
NAVAL DUTIES IN MALTA
(Rec. 8 p.m.) VALETTA, October 15. The Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Malta to-day by air to take up his appointment as first lieutenant of the destroyer Chequers, which is attached to the Mediterranean Fleet. The Duke has asked to be treated as an ordinary serving officer, without special privileges because of his Royal rank. The Duke will spend two months ashore. He learned on his arrival that the Chequers was going into dock for a refit.
