TREATMENT OF GERMANS
BRITONS WARNED TO AVOID ARROGANCE (Rec. 9 p.m.) BERLIN, October 15. Two thousand Control Commission officials and military officers were told to-day by the British High Commissioner in Germany (General Sir Brian Robertson) that they should be respectful, and not arrogant, to Germans. Speaking in the British forces’ concert hall at Hamburg. General Robertson said that many Germans found British self-assurance hard to swallow. He continued: “From now on, we must get closer to the Germans. It means that we have got to treat them with respect.” General Robertson denied that relations between the British and Germans were deteriorating, but he said his reports showed that only one in every 10 Germans was a close friend of British officials.
