MOTOR-CAR DAMAGED BY FIRE
— When the petrol vapour ignited, a motor-car owned by xvobert Alps, oi the R.N.Z.A.F. stat.on. Wigram, caught fire al the corner of Stourbridge and Barrington streets last evening, and some damage was done to the wiring of the engine. Units from the Sydenham Fire Brigade, which received the call at 7.55 p.m., attended. Some damage to a detached she’d, which is used as a smokehouse by the M.M.M. Butchery, at 474 Colombo street, was caused by a fire shortly after 7 p.m. yesterday. Units from the Central and Sydenham fire brigades attended. The ignition of fat caused a fire in an electric oven at a house at 483 Marine parade, occupied by Geoffrey Atkinson, yesterday. Units from Ih*e Central Fire Brigade attended. No damage was done to the oven. The Central Brigade was called to a chimney fire at premises occupied by Thomas Rutherford at 173 A Ferry road, at 8.30 a.m. yesterday. No damage was done.
