MAGISTRATE’S COURT

(Before Mr Rex C. Abernethy. S M.) INTOXICATED IN CHARGE OF MOTOR-CAR Ronald Patrick Tomes, aged 28. farmer, appeared on a charge of being found in a state of intoxication when in charge of a motor-car. He was fined £l2. his driver’s licence was cancelled, and he was disqualified from holding one for a period of two years. Senior-Sergeant J. J. Kearns said that two traffic inspectors had noticed Tomes driving erratically on Yaldhurst road. When he was stopped, Tomes was found to be very drunk. TRAFFIC BREACHES Offenders against the traffic regulations were dealt with as follows:—Dangerous driving: Leonard William Beattie, fined £2 10s (no driver’s licence, 10s). Failure to give way: Ivan Clement Briggs, fined £2; George Hodder Frost. £l. Driving without due care and attention: Raymon Arthur Edwards, fined £2 10s (no driver’s licence. 10s); Fritz von Zalinski, fined 30s. No warrant of fitness: Arthur Mackrell, fined 10s (no driver’s licence, fined £1); Rupert David Overend. fined ss. Driving against traffic lights: Trevov Charles Power, convicted and discharged. No driver’s licence: Keith Derrick Selwood, fined 30s (no light, fined £1; no warrant of fitness, ordered to pay costs). Permitting another person to drive a • rental car: Wanda Bessie Tipping, fined 30s. Failure to give signal: Cecil George Yardley, fined 10s.
