CRICKET TOUR OF ENGLAND
N.Z.’S PROFIT EXCEEDS £12,000 (Rec. 12.30 a.m.) LONDON. Sept. 23. The New Zealand cricket team left for home to-day in the Rangitata. The manager, Mr J. H. Pnillipps, said that the profit from the tour would exceed £12.000. He was sure that New Zealand cricket would benefit for many years. There had never been an incident which caused the players on either side to show the slightest signs of irritation, and the fairness of the crowds everywhere had impressed the New Zealanders. The gates had to be closed at some matches for the first time in the history of New Zealand cricket. Mr Phillipps said he did not know how the profit would be used, because the New Zealand Cricket Council never had to consider a profit before.
