AUCKLAND TEAM WINS N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP (New Zealand Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 19. The New Zealand Contract Bridge Association’s 1949 teams-of-four championship was won to-day by Dr. Bruce Mackenzie’s team (Auckland) with a points score of 2341 for five sessions of 24 hands each, 45 points more than the total of the runners-up, Dr. W. J. Hutchison’s team (Wellington). A team captained by Mrs Morris was third on the aggregate with 2178 points. Another Auckland team, captained by the association president, Mr R. K. Wylie, was fourth with 2128 J points. Opportunity was taken of the presence of Mrs H. B. Knight, of Wanganui, among the competitors to present to her the Allard Cup for the annual pairs competition of the association, which she won in partnership with Dr. F. C. Hutchison (Wanganui). In this contest Messrs Eell and Morgan (Auckland) were second by a margin of only one point in 100 hands.
