AMATEUR DANCING

There was a fairly large entry in a competition held recently at the’Union Rowing Club to select the team to represent the Canterbury Amateur Dancing Association against Wellington for the Joe Brown Challenge Shield. The challenge match will be cne of the features of the Palm Grove Ball, to be held at Wellington on October 7. ..The standard of dancing was very high, and the judge. Mr John Edgar M.N.A.T.D., M.F.A.T.D., had no easv task, each of the four dances taking six minutes. The final selection resulted as follows:—modern waltz Miss Y. Davey and Mr D. Burnside; foxtrot Miss M. Maley and Mr I. Cowanquickstep. Miss S. Maybury and Mr w - McGavock; tango. Miss L. Mackwell and Mr F. Wilson; team captain Mr W. McGavock.
