British Commonwealth Ambassadors and representatives to-day welcomed Miss Jean McKenzie, New Zealand’s first woman to be appointed head of a diplomatic post, when she arrived in Paris to take charge of New Zealand’s newly-established Legation. The Australian Ambassador (Colonel William Hodgson), an old friend, was the first to greet Miss McKenzie. Mrs Vijayalakshmi Pandit, the Indian Ambassador to the United States, is the only other woman head of a diplomatic mission from the Commonwealth. Miss McKenzie will introduce New Zealand dishes at official receptions. “She likes parties arid she gives very good ones,” said Colonel Hodgson.
