AUCKLAND BEATS WELLINGTON

(New Zealand Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 31. After a scoreless first half, in which the visitors had the better of the play Auckland beat Wellington by 23 points to 8 in a Rugby League representative match at Carlaw Park yesterday. The Wellington team was wanting in combination and fitness for about 25 minutes of the second spell, and in this period Auckland scored five tries. Scorers for Auckland were Baxter (2) Spence, Clarke and Clarkin. Clarke kicked four goals. For Wellington. L. Morgan scored two tries and P. Larkins converted one. Larkins failed with eight penalty shots in the first spell.
