NEW GRAND PIANO ARRIVES

INSTALLATION IN RADIO STATION STUDIO A new grand piano has arrived from England for Radio Station 3YZ, Greyrrouth. A 6ft 6in Challen, the piano is a post-war model which was brought to Wellington from England some time ago and kept in storage there until the completion of the studio extensions and renovations. The work of placing the piano on the first floor of the Central Chambers took some 15 men about an hour and a half. The piano is probably the second largest on the West Coast, where, it is reported, there is only a score of grand pianos, all in private homes. The largest piano, a concert grand, which is owned in Greymouth, is a 9ft instrument compared with the 6ft 6in length of the radio station’s piano..
