TRANSFER TO M. HOLMES’S STABLE Stray Shot, which did not reach the reserve price when offered at the Easter sale a,t Addington, has joined M. Holmes’s team at Russley, and she will have her first start for her new traiher in theInnovation Handicap at the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting to-day. A five-year-old mare. Stray Shot was bred at Pleasant Point by D. Teahen, who sold her before she raced to Mr S. A. Bremford; Stray Shot was educated by Teahen and she showed her best form in her two races as a three-ydar-old to finish fourth to Temple Star, Cdr.ceit. and Pat Review in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s 1947 Easter meeting. Strdy Shot was then transferred to J Williamson’s team- and for him she finished in a place in five of her 13 starts last season. This season, Stray Shot has started in eight races for five minor placings. By Desmond’s Pride, the sire of recent winners in Conceit and Desworthy, Stray Shot is out of Random, which left Vinceremo to Certissimus. The winner of two races earlier in the season, Vinceremo is engaged in the Waikaura Handicap at Oamaru to-day. Random, the dam of these trotters, is by the imported Maxegin from Enigma, by Nelson Bingen from Guess, by Advocate from Arrogance, by Imperious. Jottings Field Marshal, which has gained a win and a third since joining C. R. Berkett’s team, should race well from the scratch mark in the Gracefield Handicap at Hutt Park to-day. Mr E. A. Collett recently sold his interest in Locknit to Mr T. C. Dickson, who is racing her in partnership with Mr J. B. McClure. At her best, Locknit should add to her record at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting. The Pleasant Point trainer, D. Teahen, is represented by Combateer in the Innovation Handicap at Oamaru. A four-year-old gelding, Combateer is by Desmond’s Pride from Morewa. Sir Hall, the winnfer of the second division of the Wither Trot Handicap at the Marlborough Racing Club’s meeting, is new trained for Messrs F. Beban and B .Boloski by R. Mitchell at Blenheim. A Dillon Hall gelding. Sir Hall may add to his record at Hutt Park to-day. Two-year-olds at Oamaru Two-year-olds which will make their debut in the Oamaru Juvenile Stakes at the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting today include: Imperial Lord (GambleImperial GoldL Patrician (Josedale Grat-tan-Grand Dame), Loyal Spring (Springfield Globe-Loyal Emblem). Secret Mission (Grattan Loyal-Judith), Validity (Gamble-Bridget Borough), Wee Alec (Pacing Power-Black Lily). Silver Volo Sold Silver Volo was sold‘recently by J. W. Fraser to H. Stafford, and he will have his first start for his new owner In the Waikaura Handicap at the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting to-day. A disappointment in most of his races since he returned a win dividend of more than £2OO when he won the Longbeach Handicap in an easy manner at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting on June 15. 1946, Silver Volo is a seven-year-old gelding by Lusty Volo from Silver Letitia, by Rey de Oro from Letitia, by Lord Elmo from Fatality, by Electioneer from Accident, by Monte Cristo. Silver Volo, which, has been racing in Southland recently, has shown signs of returning to his best form, his last four starts yielding three minor placings. Won at Hokitika The four-year-old mare, Affectation, which showed her best form when trained at New Brighton by L. C. Frost for Mrs L. Edwards when She won the Christmas Handicap Trot at the Westland Racing Club’s meeting at Hokitika, on December 18. is now racing in the interests of S. A. Edwards, who is training her at West Melton. A daughter of Dillon Hall and Misdeal, Affectation may race well from the 24 yards mark in the Trial Handicap at Oamaru to-day.

Provision for Divisions Unless scratchings reduce the number of horses on the limit mark to the safety number, the Farewell Handicap at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting will be run in divisions. The following is the draw:—First Division: Beckleigh, Fillmore, Bexdale. Demetrius, Wedding Ring, Systematic, Farnborough, Pocket Edition scr; Indemnity 12; Loyal Nelson, Ben Adam, Gantree 24. Second Division: Red Flight, Despatch, Islaburn Lass, Worthy Dick, Pony Express, Silent Knight, British Machine scr: Fitnesse, Esto Fidelis 12; Sea Craft, Carisbrook 24. In T. H. Gunning’s Team Loyal Chief has been transferred by Mr W. Parkinson from K. Chapman’s team at Tai Tapu to T. H. Gunning’s team at Temuka. A son of Grattan Loyal and Chieftainess, Loyal Chief, which sained his last win in the 1946-47 seison, should be suited by the mile distance in the Waitaki Sprint Handicap at the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting. .
