No rain has fallen during the week, but there have been a few frosts and the going will again be on the heavy side. The forecast is for fine weather. Several fresh horses will add interest to the first day’s form, and an interesting standard of racing is promised. Play Hall and Gunsmoke have been withdrawn from the Orepuki Trot. The favourites may include:— 11 a.m.—Novice Handicap: First division: Great Bid, Sea Beacon, Paprika. Second division: Golden Mirage, Great Desire, Vermeer Lad. 11-50 a.m.—Trtua Handicap: Extra Flight, Oscillate, Bayboa. 12.30 p.m.—Pukemaori Hurdles: Pride of Mossburn, Batal, Grand Coulee. 1.20 p.m.—Waiau Handicap: Douglas Haig, Aganev, Full Play. 2 p.m.—Clifden Steeples: Waihopi bracket. First Out. Huntin® Charm. 2.40 p.m.—Orepuki Trot: First Lord, Hal! Stand-Walnut Hall bracket, Sandy Ridge. 3.20 p.m.—Tuatanere Handicap: The Turk, Some Sal, Billy Mac. 4 p.m.—Orawia Handicap: Red Pickle, Bath Slipper. Jimmy the One. Brackets are:—Novice Handicap: Free Gift and Burgoo. Clifden Steeplechase: Waihopi and Benbecula. Kassai and Erin’s Smile. Orepuki Trot: Lucky Fellow and Grattan Wave. Walnut Hall and Hall Stand.
