MILK TREATMENT PLANT

COMPANY’S PURCHASE DISCUSSED If the Government accepted the compromise price reached between the Milk Division of the Marketing Department and the interim directors of the company, to which the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board and the milk producers were joint subscribers. the milk treating plant of United Dairies, Ltd., would be taken over by the non-profit earning company on July 1, said Mr J. N. Clarke yesterday. As chairman, Mr Clarke led a deputation from the new company which discussed the taking over of the Barbadoes street plant of United Dairies with departmental officials in Wellington on Wednesday and Thursday, and later interviewed the Minister of Finance (Mr Nash). The company’s offer for the treating plant assets was below that assessed by the Milk Division, but a compromise was reached.
