INSURRECTION IN YUNNAN
(Rec. 7 p.m.) NANKING, March 29. From Kunming, in Yunnan, it is reported that more than 1000 bandits have taken Kanchieh, on the YunnanAnnam railway. The bandits are gathering strength and have taken more territory in the neighbouring Kweichow and Hunan provinces. They appear to be driving south-west to join up with the Yunnan insurgents, while Communist guerrilla forces are moving up the borders of Fukien and Hunan from Kwangtung. Trial by Jury Ends in Poland.— The Polish Government has announced that trial by jury is to be abolished in Poland. New people’s tribunals are to be introduced instead. The Judiciary Bill, which Parliament has introduced, is designed to “simplify, speed up, and clarify the dispensing of justice.”—Warsaw, March 29. '
