Saltwater Creek Airport

Before taking out a licence for the Saltwater Creek airport so that it can be used for an air taxi service, the Timaru City Council decided last evening to await the policy decision from the Government expected shortly on the licensing of taxi services. According to a letter from the Director of Civil Aviation the airport is available for tfie use of private or commercial aircraft up to 30001 b gross weight, and also Vega Gull, Proctor, and Waco aircraft. Provided an air taxi service operating as a feeder to the trunk lines was duly authorised there would be no objection to the use of the aerodrome for this purpose, said the director.
