OBITUARY
MR L. A. RUTHERFORD Mr L. A. Rutherford, of Haydon Downs, Hawarden, died on Saturday at the age of 72. He held offices in the Canterbury Sheepowners’ Association and ths New Zealand Sheepownen* Federation. Mr Rutherford was born in Christchurch and educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School and at Cook’s School. He took over The Lakes Station with his brothers, and after returning from the South African War he bought Haydon Downs. Married to Miss Lucy Gibson in 1907, Mr Rutherford is survived by his, widow, two sons, Mr Kenneth Rutherford and Mr Robert Rutherford, and one daughter. Miss Sybil Rutherford. Two sons, Lieutenants F. D. and Ivan Rutherford, lost their lives in North Africa in the Second World War.
