LIQUOR POLL

HOTEL LICENSEES NOT CAMPAIGNING The Canterbury Licensed Victuallets’ Association would not take any active part whatsoever in any campaign before the licensing poll m New Zealand on March 9, said the president of the association (Mr A. J. Empson) yesterday. The association had already passed a motion in favour of licensed premises closing at 10 p.m. “If the 10 o’clock closing is passed we feel that it will be of real benefit to the public,” he said. “The position has become invidious, and I feel that the Government should be praised for its attempt to solve the problem.”
