The liner Mariposa may again enter the passenger service between the Pacific Coast and New Zealand and Australia if a proposal that has been made to the United States Maritime Commission by the Matson Navigation Company, on behalf of the Oceanic Steamship Company, is adopted. This advice was received by the Auckland agents for the Matson Line yesterday. It is suggested bv the company that the commission buy another of their liners, the Monterey, and in return the company would finish the refitting and refurbishing of the Mariposa. Restored to the same condition as the Lurline. the Mariposa would then re-enter the Pacific service.— (P.A.)
