Sir—Since the question of the appointment to the Canterbury College chair of English has come up. I should like to indicate to your correspondent •‘r W ” that although the students were"not consulted in the matter they did voice their opinion A letter, signed by very nearly Jhe setuoi students, was written to the College Council expressing the confidence of the students in Mr Rhodes as a fine lecturer a fine scholar, a good friend, and if it were the will of the council, a fine professor.—Yours, January 21, 1949.
