POLICE FORCE PROMOTIONS
ANNOUNCEMENTS MADE BY SUPERINTENDENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 17. A number of police promotions were announced to-day by the Commissioner of Police (Mr J. Cummings). Inspector D. J. M. Hewitt is to be a superintendent, and will remain at New Plymouth. Sub-Inspector C. Murphy, of Rotorua, is promoted to inspector, and is transferred to Napier. His place will be taken by Sub-Inspec-tor w. Carren, of Auckland. SubInspector J. Walsh, at present in charge of detectives at Auckland, is promoted to inspector in the same position. Senior-Sergeant F. C. Harrison, of Newmarket, Auckland, is promoted to sub-inspector, and is transferred to the Auckland wharf police. Senior-Detective E. M. Thomas, of Timaru, is transferred to Wellington and is promoted te sub-inspector. SubInspector R. Thompson, of Wellington, is promoted to inspector, and will temporarily fill the position of inspector in charge of detectives in Wellington, Inspector J. Bruce Young having been promoted Superintendent of the Dunedin district.
