MEETING OPENS TO-DAY “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, October 28. Th’e fields are good for the opening oi the Whangarei Racing Club’s Spring meeting to-morrow. It is practically that the Maiden Stakes and the Spring Plate will have to be run in two sions. Provision has also been made tor divisions in the Huanui Hack Hurdles and the Kensington Hack Handicap, but theie may be sufficient scratchings to bring the fields within the safety limits. The course is in good order and the weather promises to be fine. The favourites may include:11.15 a.m.—Maiden Stakes: First Division—Fort Knox, Robyn Knight, Ending. Second Division—Gold Spoon, Bulos, Bene Fleur. Noon—Kensington Hack Handicap: First Division—Lady Finis, Master Shikari, Jolly Lass. Second Division—Lady s Bridge, Highland Lad, Hardware. 12.45 p.m.—Huanui Hack Hurdles: Duke Royal, Gay Chat-Black Market bracket, Default. 1.35 p.m.—Whangarei Cup: White Blaze, Antonio, Beau Rosa. 2.25 p.m.—Hikurangi Hack Handicap: Beau Astaire, Brown Velvet, Loud Checks. 3.10 p.m.—Spring Plate: First DivisionDiscovery, Seawynn, Proficiency. Second Division—Paul. Oleno, Luxmint. 4 p.m.—Manaia Handicap: Gay Youth, Dougal, Our Dink. 4.55 p.m.—Parahaki Hack Handicap: Folkestone, Regal Simon. Ninth Week.
