THREE’ PRISONERS ESCAPE

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 26. Three inmates of' the. Hautu prison camp, near Tokaanu, escaped from the prison compound at about 5.30 p.m. to-day, and were still at large at a late hour to-night. They are Frank Lawrence Porteous, William Edward Thomas, and Frederick John Lloyd. They are all young men and were wearing prison garb. The direction in which they are travelling was not known to-night.
