TWO AMERICANS ARRESTED

HUNGARIAN POLICE ACTION OPERATIONS OF OIL COMPANY (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 22. The Budapest correspondent of the Associated Press says that the People’s Court Prosecutor has ordered the arrest of several employees of the Hungarian Standard Oil Company, including two American citizens, Mr Paul Ruedemann and Mr George Eannantine, who had earlier been detained by the security polite. The decree ordering the arrests alleged that the employees had carried out their American chiefs’ instructions

“whereby a considerable quantity of oil badly needed for the country’s reconstruction and reparations is missing.”

Reuter says that the American Legation has protested orally to the Government of Hungary. The American Minister (Mr Selden Chapin) said that he had complained about “the unusual circumstances surrounding the arrests.”
