RIFLE FIRED AT RATS IN HOUSE
“The Press” Special Service ROTORUA, September 22. Charged with discharging a firearm so near to a public place as to frighten passers-by, Noel Theodore O’Connell pleaded guilty before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M.. in Rotorua yesterday. Senior-Sergeant N. S. Milligan said the defendant lived in a transit house near a dance hall. At 11 p.m. on August 25 people heard two shots from his home. When the police called defendant admitted shooting a rifle at rats in his house. He had been drinking. The Magistrate imposed a fine of £5.
