RABBITSKIN VALUES
“The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN, September 21. A rapid deterioration in the quality of skins was apparent at to-day's rabbitskin sale, and the bulk of the offering comprised milk summers and springs. There were a few parcels of winter skins on sale, but these were of poor quality. Values were generally weaker and, on the average, prices can be quoted from 3d to 9d per lb lower, with the exception of a few lines of springs which were fully firm at late rates. There was again a steady inquiry for good quality stoat and ferret skins. The following is the range of prices:— Small, 12d to 13d per lb; runners, to 27d; stained does. 64d to 65 Jd; first milky, 53Jd to 62 Jd; milky does, 29 Jd to 30jd; summers, 30d to 31Jd third broken, 30Jd to 31jd; second broken, 41d to 47Jd; first broken, 56d to 61 Jd; second spring bucks, 42jd to 49Jd; second spring does, 42Jd to 50Jd; first spring bucks. 45d to 59Jd; first spring does, 54d to 59Jd; outgoing winter bucks, 73d to 80d; outgoing winter does. 80d to 98jd; spotty winter bucks, 88d to 98d; spotty winter does, HOd to 118 d; winter bucks. 99jjd to 129 d; winter does, 129 d to 133 d; outgoing bucks, bloodstained, 55d to 60d: outgoing does, bloodstained, 57$d to 60d; winter bucks, bloodstained. 76Jd to 89d; winter does, bloodstained, 82 Jd to 88Jd; fourth black. 24d to 27d; third black, 38d to 42d; second black. 50d to 54d; first black, to 66d: fawn, 27Jd to 42 jd; first winter fawn, to 51d; first hare skins to 40d; second hare skins to 30d. Horse hair. 30d to 40d. First large ferrets, Ils lid to 13s 5d each: first small ferrets. 7s 5d to 8s 7d: second ferrets, to 4s Id; first white ferrets, 10s to Ils 2d; second white ferrets, 9d to Is 6d. First stoats, to 7s; second stoats, to 2s. The next sale will be held on October 5. RESERVE BANK RETURN The Reserve Bank return for the week ended September 15 is as follows, the figures for the previous week being given in parenthesis:— Liabilities,—General reserve fund, £1,500,000 (same); bank notes, £48,205,637 (£48.231.815); demand liabilities: State. £12,421,851 (£11,015,824); banks, £65,153,852 (£64,414,581): other, £212,138 (£228,495); liabilities in currency other than New Zealand currency, £28,280 (£22,835); other liabilities, £3,415,752 (£3,396,611). (52.785 per cent.). KRAFT PAPER PROJECT A.M.P. SUBSCRIBES TO CAPITAL The £BOO,OOO to he spent in doubling the output of the proposed kraft mill of New Zealand Forest Products. Ltd., would be put up by the A.M.P. Society on debenture, said the chairman of Australian Newsprint Mills, Ltd., Sir Keith Murdoch, on his return to Australia from New Zealand. No public issue.would be necessary. A minimum of 12.500 tons of kraft paper would be taken annually by Australian Newsprint Mills from the proposed kraft mill, said Sir Keith Murdoch. Production was expected at the end of 1951 and the potential output of the plant was 25,000 tons a year.
