APPEAL FOR FOOD PARCEL
BRITISH WOMAN WITH 15 CHILDREN Mr Albert J. Hern, of 305 Selwyn street, Christchurch, who has a long list of addresses of families, and old people living alone in Britain, has written to “The Press,” enclosing a letter from a woman *!n Bristol who has a family of 15 children, and who would like a New Zealand food parcel “if there is one to spare.” “I am not writing to beg for anything. but I will sure be glad of it, and will certainly write and acknowledge it,” she says “I have had only one parcel, and we still talk of the nice things it contained.” She has eight step-children* and seven children of her own. Five* of her sons served in the war. Seven of the children are under 14, the youngest is one year old, and she is expecting a baby. “If any readers of The Press’ would like to adopt this family, by writing, sending reading matter, or parcels or food or clothing, they can do so by writing to me.” said Mr Hem.
