METROPOLITAN LICENSING AUTHORITY SITS
The Christchurch Tramway Board requested the Christchurch Metropolitan Licensing Authority at a sitting yesterday to extend its licence for a continuous passenger service licence from Wigram Aerodrome to Moorhouse avenue, near the railway station The licence was reviewed on May 14 and renewed for three months. For the board, Mr W. K. L. Dougall said he expected that a considerable. number of immigrants would be housed at Wigram in, two months, and the board wanted the licence renewed so that it could cater for them. A renewal for three months was granted by the authority. • An application by Edie Guthrie (Mr N. S. Bowie) for, a continuous passenger service licence for a taxi-cab was opposed by several Christchurch taxi firms, represented by Mr H. W. Hunter. There had been no change in the taxi position since the authority last declined a number of similar applications, said Mr Hunter, and his clients saw no reason why any new licences should be granted The application was declined An application for the transfer of a taxi service licence from Reginald Henry Barber to Tan James Barron was approved. The transfer of a taxi licence from Alfred B. Cay to Cyrus Edmondson Mitton was approved, subject to a reduction in price.
