AERO CLUBS VISIT CHRISTCHURCH
14 AIRCRAFT TAKE PART IN FORMATION FLIGHT Pilots from many parts of New Zealand, including the youngest woman pilot in New Zealand, Miss Joan Hall, aged 17, of the Marlborough Aero Club, visited the Canterbury Aero Club during the week-end and took part in a mass formation flight of 14 aircraft over Christchurch and the bays on Saturday. Because of the strong north-easterly wind yesterday, inter-club flying competitions had to be abandoned. The wind, which reached a force of 30 miles an hour Curing gusts, was too strong to allow Che Tiger Moth aircraft tn be used in competition flights. Aircraft from the Canterbury, South Canterbury, and Marlborough aero dubs took part in the formation flight, S.kich was I® l * by the Canterbury Aero Club s Dragonfly aircraft, with a Percival Proctor and a Whitney Straight on each wing.
