NEW MAGISTRATE

MR E. A. LEE ENTERTAINED BY TENNIS ASSOCIATION Members of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association met last evening at a social and dance to bid farewell to Mr E. A. Lee, who has been chairman of the management committee of the association for seven years. Mr Lee has been appointed a Stipendiary Magistrate. Mr'Lee has been actively associated with tennis for 18 years. He has been a Canterbury selector and a New Zealand tournament referee, as well as a player in senior competitions. A tribute to Mr Lee’s work for and interest in the association was paid last evening by Mr J. Mercer, president of the association. Other speakers were Messrs J. K. Burtt, for the management committee; W. Clothier, for the competitions committee; J. W. Arnold, president of the Canterbury Umpires’ Association; D. Martin, for the sub-associations; and A. M. Hatch, representing the junior association. Mr Lee was presented with a leather travelling bag and life membership of Wilding Park.
