AIR SERVICE TO HAREWOOD
AUCKLAND CHAMBER’S SUPPORT
CO-OPERATION WITH CANTERBURY
(P.A.) AUCKLAND. August 5. Technically, land planes would give more economical, reliable, and efficient service across the Tasman than flyingboats, said Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park at a meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to-day. He said New Zealand was 10 to 15 years behind Australia in air services. The chamber decided to co-operate with the Canterbury chamber in its endeavour to get a Skymaster service. The president (Mr J. F, Johnston) supported Australian National Airways’ proposal to establish a service from Sydney to Auckland and from Melbourne to Qhristchurch, saying that Tasman Empire Airways told him last week that bookings could not be accepted until the end of October.
