(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)
(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 21. If New Zealand and Australia have for sale —at an “attractive” pricecommodities which could be used in European economic recovery, the Economic Co-operation Administration is prepared to consider purchasing them. Administration officials said this today in reply to questions concerning the possibility of Australia and New Zealand earning dollars through the administration.
However, these officials said that negotiations for the purchase of supplies had not been entered into as yet with either Government, and, indeed it. was uncertain that New Zealand and Australia had anything to offer that the administration needed. They recalled that United States foreign aid legislation stipulated that during the first year at least wool needed by the administration should be bought from stocks held by the Commodity Credit Corporation.
