•Mr Joseph Westwood, Labour member of the House of Commons for Stirling and Falkirk (above) was killed in a motor accident at Strathmiglo, Fifeshire, to-day. His wife, who was injured, died later. Mr Westwood was appointed becretarv of State for Scotland m 1945, and held this office until October, 1947. In 1931 and from 1940 to 1945, he was Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland.—London, July 17.
