EARLY MORNING FIRE AT GREYMOUTH BRIGADE MAKES GOOD SAVE OF NEARBY BUILDINGS From Our Own Reporter ■ T „ GREYMOUTH, July 18. Members of the Greymouth Volunteer Fire Brigade made a good save of the adjoining property when fire early this morning totally destroyed ths Greymouth working Men’s Club in Alexander terrace. Keen, variable winds for some time made the bngadesmen’s task more difficult. The two-storeyed ’ building of wood and iron, comprising 15 or 16 rooms, was formerly a boarding-house. 'lt was purchased a few months ago for the establishment of a Greymouth Working Men s Club, When the beer boycott had concluded. The building was blazing fiercely when tbe brigade received a call at 3.30 a.m., and all the brigade could do was to. endeavour to prevent the fire’s to ,, a< ijp. ln ing premisw, Flames frequently licked the other premises, both sides of the club rooms being burnt out.
