RICCARTON RODEO AND GYMKHANA
A rodeo and gymkhana in aid of the Riccarton Returned Services’ Association and the Riccarton Rugby League was held at the Riccarton Domain on Saturday. There was a crowd estimated at 2500 and a large number of entries, in spite of the unpleasant weather. The main prize-winners in the 17 riding and buckjumoing events were as follows: Open Bullock Riding Championship (cup given by Skuthorpe’s Rodeo and Circus).—T. Harris 1. G. Vercoe 2, I. J. Cook and J. McCullough (equal) 3. Open Buck jumping Championship (cup civen by Riccarton R.S.A.).—G. Vercoe 1, T. Harris 2, W. Lennon 3 Consolation Buckjumping Contest (cup given by Mr Alex. Paintin).—G. Ausling 1. S. Thorburn 2. Consolation Bullock Riding.—J. Randall Open Bending Race.—L. Gudsell 1, J. Cunningham 2, W. C. Preece 3. Open Flag Race.—L. Beardsley 1, W. Black 2. L. Gudsell 3.
