ORAL FRENCH EXAMINATIONS The following are results of the annual examination in oral French held by the Christchurch Cercle Francais on Friday: Senior section—First prize and Humphreys gold medal: Nancy Bell (Christchurch Girls’High School). Second prize: O. Leeming (St. Bede’s College). Third prize: C. M. Clark (Christchurch Boys’ High School). Merit certificates: R. Smith (Christ’s College), N. McGillivray (St. Andrew’s College). Ruth Barltrop (Avonside Girls’ High School), Barbara Ackerley (Christchurch Girls’ High School), j. Williams (Christ’s College), S. Eggleston (Christchurch West High School), R. Atkens (St. Andrew’s College). Junior Section.—First prize and bronze medal given by the Alliance Francaise: Agnes McLagan (Christchurch Girls’ High School). Second prize: Alison Tarrant (Christchurch Girls’ High School). Third arize: G. Warren (Christ's College). Merit certificates: P. Hockey (Christ’s College) L_D. Livingstone (Christchurch Boys’ t-’igh School). Patricia Ryan (Sacred Heart College), J. Welsh (Christchurch Technical College). R. F. Judge (Christchurch Boys’ / High School). R. Kerr (St. Andrew’s College). K. Roach (St. Bede’s Col-ege). and Adrienne Glubb (Sacred Heart College).
The silver cup presented by the Cercle Francais to the school gaining the highest number of points in the examinations was won bv the Christchurch Girls’ High School.
