PLOUGHING MATCH

COURTENAY PAPARUA ASSOCIATION With entries totalling 48. the CourtenayPaparua Ploughing Match Association, in conjunction with the Darfield Young Farmers’ Club, recently held a very successful match on the farm of Mr R. M. Wilson (Kirwee). The paddock was an exceptionally good one, and there was an outstanding display of work in all sections. The judges were:—Ploughing, Messrs J. Turnbull (St. Albans), F. Dog Trials Dog trials held in conjunction with the ploughing match also attracted record entries. The judge was Mr C. F. Basset (Burnt Hill, Oxford). Results were:— Open (long pull): R. A. C. Burn’s Lass, 93 points. 1; R. A. C. Burn’s Moss, 89 points, 2; Murray Wilson’s Gem, 881 points, 3. Malden class: P. A. Lundy’s Donald, 78 points, 1; D. McGrath’s Boss, 68 pqints, 2; R. Mcßae’s Mick, 60 points, 3. District farmers’ trial: M. R. Murchison’s Doris. 52 points, 1; Major G. F. Hutton’s Speed, 501, 2. Competitor travelling longest distance (Mrs G. F. Hutton’s trophy): C. D. Wilson (Riverside, Ashburton).
