FAITH CURES
Sir,—In the English newspaper, the “Recorder/’ of June 19, 1948, a column and a half are devoted to an article entitled “Bishops Accept Faith Cures” and “Priests as Doctors of Prayer.” It tells that “a London clinic draws peers and labourers,” etc., and “thousands which he cannot count have come to him with cancer, arthritis, tumours, nervous disorders repressions, and every manner of disease and all have profited something from the spiritual approach to their troubles.” It gives accounts of individual cures from definite organic disease, and then says: “No medical explanation,” said the doctors. Now, I beg to state that there is a perfectly sound and scientific explanation. Many doctors will not deny that such “miracles” do occur. The time has come for the true scientists to ask themselves what forces of nature are brought into operation in such phenomena and set about to discover them.—Yours, etc., M. G. DAVIES. July 13, 1948.
