GABRIELLA STILL IDLE

CALL FOR' LABOUR UNANSWERED

ONE MAN REINSTATED IN UNION

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 2. The collier Gabriella with a cargo for Greymouth is still held up in Wellington because of the seamen’s dispute over the expulsion of members by the national executive of the union. Seven members of the ship’s crew refused to take the vessel to sea on Thursday, and the Union Steam Ship Company called for fresh labour today, but the call was unanswered. The men who refused to sail demand that the expulsion of three members of the union by the executive for their part in the Kartigi dispute at Westport must be cancelled. It was announced that one of the three, a Wellington man, was reinstated to-day, but until the other two, who are Auckland men, are reinstated the men will not sail. From Auckland it was reported that an anti-expulaon committee was formed there, and four members of it went aboard the coastal vessel Kaimiro. They were ordered off by the ship’s officers, but refused to go. The police appeared and ordered - them away from the ship and the wharf. They left. The men in the Kaimiro are reported to have voted 12 to eight in favour of sailing, and the vessel left port in the afternoon.
