DR. DORIS GORDON

RESIGNATION NOW TAKEN EFFECT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 2. Questioned to-day about her resignation from the position of Director of Maternal Infant Welfare. Dr. Doris Gordon said that it had now taken effect. She had been asked by the Minister of Health (Miss M. B. Howard) to postpone leaving the office until the end of a special conference on obstetrical affairs which the Minister had convened. Dr. Gordon had accordinglv put aside her proposed visit to Australia on medical affairs to attend this conference, a report of which would now go to Cabinet, and which could not be discussed at this stage. She had nothing further to say other than to thank the Minister for calling such a widely representative conference. -
