NGAITAHU TRUST BOARD
Sir,—lt must be obvious to the Ratana members that by voting in favour of the Ngaitahu Trust Board Act, they favoured -disinheritance for the Canterbury Maoris. It is really arfiazing, as w remember the late W. T. Ratana promised to assist us in our fight for our rights by way of his members. The Hon. E. T. Tirikatene, then a minion in the tribe, said that he would resign if the Labour Government failed to honour the Treaty of Waitangi, and also the rights and privileges of the Maori. Ratana members are actually retaining Socialism in this country arid for the future protection of Maori lands they must demand the restoration of our lands before they themselves get frightfully bitten by Socialism.—Yours, etc., m „ W. A. PITAMA, Tuahiwi, June 8, 1948.
