Captain C. C. Vanden Bergh, branch manager of the Waterfront Industry Commission at Lyttelton, has been appointed branch manager at Wellington. He will take up his new duties at the beginning of April.

Mr E. Parlane, who has retired after 25 years as secretary of the Canterbury Drivers’ Union, was bidden farewell artd presented with a cheque at a social recently. Mrs Parlane was given a purse.

Mr A. D. Bayfield, manager for New Zealand for the Federal Steam Navigation Company, will retire on March 31 after nearly 42 years’ service. Mr Bayfield, a champion oarsman in 1904. has been a member of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association for some 40 years. He has also had a long connexion with Rugby football and the New Zealand Olympic anc British Empire Games Association. Mr T. S. Marchington, assistant manager for New Zealand, will succeed Mr Bayfield.—(P.A,)
