STUDENTS’ SUB-CENTRE
At the annual meeting of the students' sub-centre of the Red Cross Society the following officers were reelected: patrons, Mesdames J. G. L. Vernon, M. Page, and Miss T. WestWatson; president, Mrs F. J. Bretsch; vice-presidents, Mrs M. Jaggar, Misses Kathleen Malthus, and Suzanne Booker; secretary-treasurer, Miss Barbara de Lambert; assistant treasurer, Miss Elaine Binsted; honorary organiser of Polish auxiliary, Mrs Cecil Crombie; honorary organiser Registered Nurses’ Auxiliary, Mrs Ronald Williams; committee, officers, Mrs Morton, Misses N. Archer, M. Armstrong, E. and S.. Binsted, E. Champion, J. Sandrey, and M. Stevenson. Lady Wigram gave an interesting account of the austere life of the average person in England to-day. and emphasised the need for constant supplies of good warm clothing to be sent to the British Red Cross for distribution in Europe. Mrs Pretsch reported that during the last two years consignments of food and fat valued at about £5OO in London, had been acknowledged by the Ministry of Food and sent to various hospitals in England.
