WHITE FLANNEL AND BABY WOOL

EXPECTANT MOTHERS TO GET PREFERENCE (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Mar. 15. Supplies of baby wool, white flannel, and similar fabrics are in short supply and expectant mothers will be given preference for these items. This decision was reached at the annual conference of the New Zealand Retailers’ Federation at New Plymouth to-day. It was pointed out that it was not possible to guarantee supplies, but it was decided that, on the presentation of their supplementary ration books, expectant mothers would be assured of every consideration. The present shortage of baby wool, it was stated, was attributable to the overseas supply position. White flannel stocks were unlikely to improve until more labour was available to local mills.
